John Woollard established the
practice of John Woollard and
Associates in 1963 at 40 years of
age. He was soon to become
well known amongst architects,
engineers, client groups,
government departments and
indeed other quantity surveyors
as he and the practice built a
strong reputation for accuracy,
reliability and consistency.
In the early days of the practice, the main source of income was preparation of Bills of Quantities which were prepared manually without the aid of electronic calculators let alone electronic measurement and sophisticated software packages. John was a member of the AIQS for 30 years and was a Fellow for many of these years.
John quickly became known as a true gentleman with a great respect for others. His guiding principles for his firm were to be fair and reasonable and to always seek an agreeable outcome for all parties. In short, he established a company culture based on family values. His belief in this method of conducting business was so strong that it still exists in Wilde and Woollard today. He was a kind and gentle businessman and a true quiet achiever with a passion for his profession.
John passed away peacefully on the 7th of February 2012 aged 88
