The existing Coles supermarket in the city centre of Ipswich featured prominently in national media coverage when it was completely inundated and damaged beyond repair during the 2011 Brisbane and Ipswich floods. As a result, Coles Property Group decided to redevelop the site and create a striking new retail centre to house Australia’s largest Coles Superstore and associated specialty retail tenancies on a suspended deck above the 2011 flood level. The 6000m2 centre has parking for over 280 vehicles on the upper deck and also in the large undercroft carpark at street level.
The Coles development created approximately 250 jobs during the construction phase and will now create approximately 350 retail jobs for people in and around Ipswich.
